As we all know practice makes perfect when it comes to doing a DIY home manicure. I thought that I should write a little post to share my tips and tricks about getting the perfect gel nails at home. I have learnt the hard way on how to do the best DIY gel manicure whilst I developed this kit. Sharing what I have learnt will hopefully allow you to avoid the mistakes I made when I first began doing my own gel nails.
DIY Gel Tip #1
I can be very impatient so I thought I would save time by alternating hands when it came time for me to apply polish. This was my first mistake leading to me spending more time on my nails after I repeatedly smudged them or even forgot what step I was on for each hand. This is my first tip: Complete one hand entirely before you start on the other. This avoids smudges, as remember once your nails are cured under the light they are completely dry!
DIY Gel Tip #2
If you have oil and dirt on or under your nails, you will be unable to cure your polish properly. So make sure you are fed and watered before you start the JetSet process as touching anything could leave dirt or oil on your nails. Remember to wipe your nails with alcohol, this could be methylated spirits or our JetSet Gel nail polish remover. This will remove any oily residue or dirt that is on your nails allowing the polish to cure properly.
DIY Gel Tip #3
If you’re not very good at staying in the lines like I am, apply a light layer of Vaseline or Pawpaw using a Q-tip around your cuticles and skin. This allows you to wipe off instantly the polish that is messy after you have finished.
DIY Gel Tip # 4
When removing your JetSet Gel Nails, remember that you first have to use a very course emery board to remove the first layer of gel. The more you buff your nails at this stage the easier it will be for you to remove the polish with the liquid. Just make sure you don't go through all the gel polish and start filing down your nails!
I hope these tips and tricks will help you achieve your very own perfect JetSet Gel manicure at home! But if you do have any questions, just sent us a quick message through the Contact Us section.
